North Korean leader Kim Jong-un paid his respects at his father's embalmed corpse at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang on Sunday, the official [North] Korean Central News Agency reported.

It was the sixth death anniversary of Kim Jong-il, who lies in state alongside his father and regime founder Kim Il-sung. KCNA said Kim junior vowed to "fight more unflinchingly... as befits a revolutionary warrior."

Unlike in previous years, Kim Jong-un visited the mausoleum alone, unaccompanied by senior party or military officials.

Front-page photos in the official Rodong Sinmun showed Kim Jong-un looking straight ahead and the standing statues of Kim Il-sung and Jong-il.

Earlier that day, a dozen senior apparatchiks including Kim's right-hand man Choe Ryong-hae and senior military brass visited the mausoleum.
