More than half of Koreans expect housing prices to remain flat next year, a straw poll suggests.

Property information service Real Estate 114 polled 721 adults last month, and 57 percent expected housing prices to stay more or less the same. Only 24 percent expect them to decline and 19 percent to rise.

In a similar poll in April, 46 percent said the prices would rise.

"A growing number of people prefer to stay on the sidelines and monitor prices for the time being after new regulations aimed at curbing property speculation," a staffer at Real Estate 114 said.
