Senior U.S. and Japanese officials arrived in Seoul on Tuesday, to meet their South Korean counterpart for talks over North Korea's nuclear and missile threats.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan was joined by Tokyo's Vice Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama, for a three-way meeting with South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam. During his two-day stop in Japan, prior to his arrival in Seoul, Sullivan said the U.S. is not ruling out the possibility of holding direct talks with Pyongyang.
Rex Tillerson's deputy will hold strategic dialogue with Lim to discuss the situation with North Korea and reaffirm the South Korea-U.S. alliance ahead of President Trump's visit to Seoul early next month.
