Summer corn is a hugely popular snack in Korea thanks to its sweet flavor and chewy texture. The snack can be found almost anywhere from supermarkets to street stalls and highway rest stops for drivers.
Corn is one of the country's most stable crops as it is easy to grow and resistant to insects. And there's no doubt that it has many health benefits as well.

The high fiber content makes corn effective in preventing constipation and obesity as well as removing visceral fat. One cob has about 10 g of water-soluble dietary fiber, equivalent to roughly five kiwis or seven peaches.
About 100 g of corn can be quite filling but contains just 132 calories. It digests slowly and prevents overeating while also reducing cholesterol thanks to its high levels of unsaturated fat.
In traditional medicine, corn silk has long been used for its diuretic effect when prepared as a tea with hot water.
Still, it must be noted that corn has a high glycemic index and can raise blood sugar, so diabetics should enjoy with cautions.
