One in three firefighters in Korea suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, a report suggests.
The National Center for Mental Health last week polled 212 firefighters with average work experience of 14 years and found that 73 suffered from PTSD.
Most respondents experienced indirect trauma from witnessing terrible scenes, and about two-thirds suffered direct traumatic events such as injuries in the line of duty.
More than half experienced trauma related to their co-workers such as accidental deaths or suicide and serious injuries.
