Moon to Visit White House on June 29-30

      President Moon Jae-in and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump will meet at the White House on June 29-30, the two countries announced Tuesday.

      This will be Moon's first summit with a foreign leader.

      Meanwhile, Moon hailed the Seoul-Washington alliance when he visited the Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command in Yongsan, Seoul the same day.

      "The alliance has successfully deterred North Korea's aggression in the over 60 years since the Korean War, which has helped maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula," Moon said. "That has, in turn, laid the groundwork for the democracy and economic growth Korea is now enjoying."

      He added Korean and U.S. troops "have contributed to world peace and shed blood together in various places around the world, including Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan."
