How to Prevent Hair Loss in Spring

With temperatures warming up people are getting ready for some outdoor fun, but spring can be a bad time for hair loss as the scalp is exposed to the elements.

Exposure to UV rays makes the scalp dry and flakey, and hair ages more quickly. Big swings in temperature in spring can also cause the scalp to dry out, which makes the protective layer of skin easily damaged from exposure to the sun. Pollen and dust can also clog up pores and weakens follicle, causing dandruff or inflammation and eventually hair loss.

A parasol or a hat is best for hair loss prevention in spring time, as they protect the scalp from being exposed to UV rays. However, wearing a hat for a long period of time can exacerbate hair loss as sweat or bacteria accumulate. Wear a hat that does not fit too tight, and take it off as often as possible so that the sweat can dry.

Black beans, pork, eggs and seaweed, which are rich in protein and minerals, are good for maintaining a healthy scalp and hair. Avoid excessively greasy food, instant food, and fizzy drinks as they can make the scalp worse.
