S.Korea Thrashes Hong Kong in Women's Asian Cup Qualifier

    South Korea beat Hong Kong 6-0 in a qualifier for the AFC Women's Asian Cup at Kim Il-sung Stadium in Pyongyang on Sunday.

    After opening the scoring with a penalty in the 44th minute, South Korea scored an additional five goals in the second half, including another penalty in the 70th minute.

    North and South Korea are battling for first place in the five-nation group stage. Only the winner will advance to the 2018 Women's Asian Cup in Jordan, where the top five finishers will qualify for the 2019 Women's World Cup in France.

    After beating Uzbekistan 4-0 on the same day, North Korea tops the group with 10 points from three wins and one draw, followed by South Korea with seven points from two wins and one draw.

    South Korea still has a game to play, against Uzbekistan on Tuesday. If it wins, the two Koreas would be tied for points, and the winner would be determined based on goal difference.

    To win the group outright, South Korea must beat Uzbekistan by two goals or more.
