The former head of the ruling Saenuri Party on Wednesday pledged to seek the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye over a snowballing corruption scandal.
Kim Moo-sung called a press conference at the National Assembly where he told reporters, "Park has betrayed the people and Saenuri and seriously violated the Constitution."
Kim added he felt responsible as a ruling-party lawmaker who played a major role in Park's election and offered not to run for president in the next election.

Meanwhile, another eight other Saenuri lawmakers are leaving the party and plan to form a new conservative party with Gyeonggi Governor Nam Kyung-pil and third-term lawmaker Kim Yong-tae, who quit Tuesday.
