DNA Fingerprints Point to Single Source of Cholera

All three patients who came down with cholera in southern Korea were infected with the same bacteria, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.

It said analysis shows that the genetic fingerprints of cholera bacteria from the third patient, whose infection was confirmed Wednesday, are identical with those from the first and second. All of them had eaten seafood from Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.

Authorities plan to find out the exact cause by checking the seawater in the area.
