Samsung SDI will build a plant in Hungary to produce batteries for electric vehicles. The company said on Tuesday the plant will meet demand for the expanding EV market there.

It plans to invest some W400 billion in total to build a plant with an annual production capacity of 50,000 batteries (US$1=W1,119).

Its existing factory for display panels will be renovated to cut costs and time, and the new plant will be scheduled to open sometime in late 2018.
