FIFA Reduces Ban on Chung Mong-joon

A six-year suspension against Hyundai scion Chung Mong-joon was reduced to five years, world football body FIFA said on Tuesday.

Chung expressed disappointment at the decision, saying he will take all possible legal actions including an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The ethics committee of FIFA in October last year slapped Chung with a six-year ban and a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs for "defaming" the governing body and failing to keep confidentiality over an investigation into irregularities during Korea's World Cup bids.

But Chung claimed that FIFA slapped the ban to sabotage his candidacy for the FIFA presidency.
