Korean-New Zealander Lydia Ko picked up her third LPGA title this season at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship on Sunday.
Ko, an overnight co-leader, finished the final third round with six birdies and three bogeys at the Pinnacle Country Club in Northwest Arkansas. She edged out co-runners-up Morgan Pressel of the U.S. and Candie Kung of Taiwan by three strokes with a score of 17-under 196, and received US$300,000 in prize money (US$1=W1,181).
Ko said she enjoyed playing although she lost focus due to the extremely hot weather, and is looking forward to playing at the U.S. Women's Open in July.
Brooke Henderson of Canada, who won the Women's PGA Championship, the second major of the season, two weeks earlier, and Kim Sei-young, who won the Meijer LPGA Classic last week, both missed the cut. Yoo Sun-young had the best result amongst Korean nationals, finishing in eighth place with 12-under.
