The number of unemployed college graduates in Korea has doubled in the last 15 years.
According to Statistics Korea, the number of economically inactive college and university graduates was over 3.3 million in 2015, up 4.7 percent on-year. The figure represents a two-fold increase from 1.6 million in 2000, and has been steadily rising since.
In 2015, unemployed graduates made up nearly 21 percent of the economically inactive population in the nation, up 9.5 percentage points from 2000.
Economic experts attribute the increase to disconnect between desired positions and available ones for jobseekers.
