Motorists' favorite destination on Lunar New Year's Day is the folkloric hanok village in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.

The finding comes from analysis of subscribers to the navigation app Mappy during the holidays last year.

The village is popular for programs like traditional games and hands-on activities.

Next came Wolmi Island in Incheon, the Everland theme park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, Haeundae Beach in Busan, Daebu Island in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, the N Seoul Tower at Mt. Nam in Seoul, Nami Island in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, and Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province.

Most of the destinations are in or near Seoul and Busan.

Other users visit their ancestors' graves, veterans memorial parks, and the Imjingak Pavilion in Paju, Gyeonggi Province that overlooks the demilitarized zone, or watch the first sunrise of the new lunar year in a scenic spot.
