Hyundai's Luxury Genesis Sedan Among Best Cars at Detroit Motor Show

Hyundai's G90 luxury sedan has been named one of the best cars at this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit by U.S. magazine Consumer Reports.

The G90, sold as the EQ900 in Korea, is the flagship sedan for Hyundai’s new Genesis brand.

The magazine selected nine best cars to take note of among more than 40 new models showcased at the show.

The magazine praised the G90 as the "most ambitious" car. "Hyundai has doubled down on luxury cars. Not content to sell its Genesis and Equus sedans under the Hyundai flag, they're following in the footsteps of Honda, Nissan and Toyota and creating a standalone luxury division with its own identity," the magazine said.

Kia's concept SUV, called Telluride, was chosen as the "most probable concept." "This three-row SUV looks like it's ready to go on sale tomorrow with just a few tweaks," it said.

Meanwhile, Hyundai said on Sunday it would increase annual production of the EQ900 luxury sedan from the current 16,000 units to 32,000 units due to its brisk sales.
