Demand is soaring for Hyundai's new Genesis EQ900 sedan, which is set to hit showrooms Wednesday.
The EQ900 is the first Korean-made luxury sedan to rack up 10,000 pre-orders. A Hyundai spokesman said pre-orders totaled around 9,700 vehicles as of Monday and are expected to surpass 10,000 on Tuesday.

The EQ900 was unveiled last month as the first model under the separate Genesis brand. It is 4 cm longer than Hyundai's flagship Equus sedan but the same height to give it a sleeker shape.
Although Hyundai has only revealed an artist's impression of the car, pre-orders hit 4,342 when they started on Nov. 23, and averaged between 400 and 500 a day ever since, already surpassing the annual sales volume of the Equus (8,487).
The price and specs of the EQ900 will be revealed at an event hosted by Hyundai Motor chairman Chung Mong-koo at the Grand Hyatt on Wednesday afternoon.
