President Park Geun-hye will visit New York on Sept. 25-28 to attend the 70th UN General Assembly and the UN summit.
In a keynote speech at the General Assembly on Sept. 28, she will seek support for Seoul's efforts for peaceful reunification and stress the importance of global cooperation in solving the North Korean nuclear issue.
The same day, she will also attend the UN summit on peacekeeping operations jointly chaired by U.S. President Barack Obama and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Because it marks the 70th anniversary of the UN, this year's gathering will be attended by leaders from about 160 countries, including the U.S., China and Russia, and Pope Francis.
Park will be the seventh keynote speaker.
