Lee Hee-ho, the widow of former President Kim Dae-jung, visited an orphanage and a nursery in Pyongyang on Thursday, the second day of her stay there.
Lee delivered humanitarian goods including woolen hats and mufflers that she had prepared with a civic group of which she is honorary chairwoman, according to the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center.
She also delivered W300 million worth of medicines donated by the Korea Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, including nutritional supplements (US$1=W1,170).
After taking a rest at Paekhwawon, the North's state guesthouse in the afternoon, Lee visited Mt. Myohyang and attended a dinner hosted by North Korean officials there.
On Friday morning she will tour an exhibition hall displaying gifts from foreign dignitaries to regime founder Kim Il-sung and his son Jong-il. There is speculation that Lee could meet Kim Jong-un at a guesthouse in Mt. Myohyang.
A dinner for Lee and her entourage at Paekhwawon was attended by six North Korean officials including Maeng Kyong-il, the vice chairman of the North's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee.
