Every summer, along with the heat, the mosquitoes return to make our lives a bit more uncomfortable. They disrupt our sleep with their buzzing, and their bites leave us scratching for days.
The itching is the result of an allergic reaction to toxins in mosquitoes' saliva, which is left on the skin when the insects extract our blood. Here are some tips on how to keep from being bitten.

Not smelling like sweat helps a lot. Sensitive to our bodies' temperature, moisture and odor, mosquitoes are particularly attracted to healthy people, children with fast metabolisms and menstruating women. Frequent showering and keeping clean is key to keeping mosquitoes away.
Try not to leave windows open at night. If it is unavoidable, be sure to keep the insect screens shut as mosquitoes are nocturnal and attracted to lights at night.
For outdoor activities wear bright-colored clothing, as mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors.
