Lee Seung-woo will join the reserve team of FC Barcelona next week.
The 17-year-old footballer talked to the press at the Incheon International Airport on Tuesday, saying he hopes to be promoted to the prestigious club to play in Spain's top-tier La Liga in a few years.
"I am happy that my skills were recognized by the team," Lee said. "I want to take this opportunity to grow more as a footballer."
Since Lee was sanctioned for violating FIFA rules which prohibit minors from transferring to other international clubs in March 2013, he cannot play in official matches as a Barcelona player until Jan. 5.
But he will be able to play at the U-17 World Cup which opens in mid-October in Chile.
