About eight out of 10 children in Korea say they appreciate their parents most, according to a recent survey of nearly 23,000 elementary students by home-learning program i-Scream.
A whopping 81 percent said their parents are the people they appreciate the most in their lives. Friends came a distant second at seven percent, followed by teachers and other relatives.
Asked why they appreciate their parents, about 28 percent said because of the comfort and sympathy they get from them. Other reasons included kindness, encouragement and unconditional love they get.
But the survey also shows that kids are often too shy to express their appreciation, suggesting that parents should initiate more conversations with their children when they are young.
