Chinese No. 1 in Obtaining Korean Citizenship

According to the Ministry of Justice three out of five of the over 2,800 foreigners naturalized in the first two months of this year were Chinese.

In terms of achieving citizenship, China ranked first with 1,700, but many of them were ethnic Koreans. Those from Vietnam and the Philippines followed with most immigrants from Southeast Asia obtaining citizenship through marriage.

Meanwhile, 2,600 Koreans were naturalized in other countries during the same period with more than half of them becoming American citizens.
