Three Seoul eateries made the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list compiled by Restaurant magazine of the U.K., which announced the results in Singapore on Monday.
Jungsik in Cheongdam-dong jumped 10 places from last year's ranking to 10th. Ryunique in Sinsa-dong and Shilla Hotel's La Yeon made the list for the first time this year, ranking 27th and 38th.
Last year, Jungsik was alone in representing Korea when it became the first eatery from the country ever to be included in the prestigious list.
All three restaurants serve contemporary versions of traditional Korean cuisine, preparing familiar recipes in a modern style.
Gaggan, an Indian restaurant in Bangkok, topped the list, followed by Narisawa in Tokyo; Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet in Shanghai; Tokyo's Nihonryori Ryugin; and Andre in Singapore.
By country, China has the most restaurants on the list with 16, followed by Singapore with 10 and Japan with eight.
The magazine said Korea's increased representation on its list was a reflection of the country's growing influence on Asia's restaurant industry.
The rankings are based on a survey of more than 300 top-level members of Asia's restaurant industry such as chefs, restaurateurs and food critics.
