Hundreds of Police Guard U.S. Ambassador

      U.S. Ambassador Mark Lippert was flanked by hundreds of police as he left Severance Hospital on Tuesday for his home in central Seoul.

      According to police, around 360 officers were stationed around the hospital as a huge crowd of supporters was expected.

      Lippert was given a new security detail on the day of the knife attack he suffered last week, while three police officers are protecting his wife.

      Police checked everyone entering the sixth floor of the hospital where Lippert gave a press conference with a metal detector and also scanned the conference room for suspicious objects. Some reporters protested as police searched through their bags. One had a box cutter confiscated from his pencil case.

      Lippert was flanked by motorcycle patrols on his way home, and police have stationed security guards around his residence.
