Samsung will unveil its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S6, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on March 2. Samsung also unveiled its the S2 and S5 models at the fair.
The company has developed multiple prototypes of the Galaxy S6 but has yet to decide which one to go with. One staffer with a subcontractor said the phone will have a casing in a metallic material but Samsung is weighing several options for the details.
It has yet to decide whether to adopt a traditional smartphone layout for the screen or an edged screen with a menu bar on one or both edges.
Meanwhile, LG will not to unveil its G4 smartphone at the same event. An executive said, "We rolled out the G3 in May last year so we do not plan to unveil the G4 at this year's Mobile World Congress and spend more time perfecting the new phone."
Instead, LG will showcase various new wearable devices and IoT-related systems that connect smart devices and sensors to the Internet. It plans to unveil a smartwatch equipped with its webOS smart TV platform.
