The Japanese government has once again posted a video online promoting its flimsy colonial-era claim to Korea's Dokdo islets.
An office under the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat posted on YouTube last month a 17-minute video introducing a picture book about Japanese fishermen catching sea lions on Dokdo during the Japanese occupation.
The video shows the author, former elementary school teacher Yumiko Sugihara teaching her students in a classroom.
Sea lions became extinct in the area as a result of Japanese slaughter in the colonial era.
The video also has an "educational purpose of ratcheting up Japan's claim to Dokdo in schools," the Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Sunday.
The Japanese government set up a new office in 2013 that specifically deals with Tokyo's colonial claim to Korea's Dokdo and the dispute with China over the Senkaku or Diaoyu Islands.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry produced and distributed a video promoting the claim to Dokdo in about 10 languages, including Korean, English, and Chinese.
