The new Hyundai Genesis received a five-star rating at the Australasian New Car Assessment Program on Thursday.
Hyundai Motor said that the Genesis earned 36.88 points out of a possible 37, the highest score in the ANCAP's 21 year history.

The ANCAP, a joint automobile organization of Australia and New Zealand, assesses vehicles based on six test categories, including frontal offset, side impact, pedestrian and pole tests.
The previous high was 36.78 points achieved by the Mercedes Benz B-Class in 2012.
Hyundai will officially release the new Genesis in Australia next month.
