How Drinks Can Help Beat Summer Sluggishness

      Many people feel tired and sluggish out in hot and humid weather, and air conditioners and cold drinks alone cannot compensate fully and may be bad for your health. The important thing is to choose drinks that reinvigorate and are full off healthy ingredients.

      ◆ Matrimony Vine Tea

      The fruit of matrimony vine makes a refreshing tea. It stimulates blood circulation and boosts the immune system, and lowers cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

      It cools down the body, quenches thirst, and restores energy. It is also good for eyesight and cleans the fuzz out of the head, so it is an ideal drink for those who are studying for exams.

      Thoroughly wash the fruits, and boil them at medium heat.

      ◆ Mulberry Tea

      Mulberries contain various vitamins in addition to calcium, phosphorus, iron, glucose, fructose, citric acid, malic acid, tannin, and pectin. They can help strengthen the liver, bowels and kidney.

      It also helps with alcoholysis, quenching thirst, insomnia, and forgetfulness.

      Wash mulberries in running water and slowly simmer over low heat. When the liquid is reduced, add a few spoonfuls of honey and simmer again. This will make a nice syrup that can be diluted in hot water.

      ◆ Magnolia Tea

      Tea made with magnolia flowers has a lovely scent. It is helpful when the throat struggles due to too much exposure to air conditioning.

      Pick the flowers when they start to bloom and until they are in full bloom, and dry them out of direct sunlight, or slightly steam and freeze them for storage. Or wash the petals, get rid of excess moisture, and layer them with sugar in a glass jar. Start enjoying after 20 days.
