South Korea, the U.S., Japan and five other countries on June 29 sent a letter to the International Civil Aviation Organization complaining that North Korea's ballistic missile launches violate international conventions, Voice of America reported Wednesday.
They said the North's failure to issue a warning before firing missiles is a threat to civil aviation and called on the ICAO to remind the North of its obligations as a member.
The other signatories were Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the U.K.
Back in March, Seoul brought up the issue with the ICAO and the International Maritime Organization. At the time, the two international organizations wrote to North Korea urging it to issue prior notice of missile launches.
South Korea, the U.S., and the U.K. have also sent a letter to the UN Security Council committee on the implementation and enforcement of sanctions against the North, saying the North's missile launches violate UNSC resolutions and calling for a probe.
