U.S. President Barak Obama will meet Korean tycoons during his visit here on Friday and Saturday.
Insiders said about a dozen business leaders will meet Obama over breakfast in downtown Seoul on Saturday morning under the sponsorship of the American Chamber of Commerce Korea.
Participants include Huh Chang-soo, the chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries, Park Yong-maan, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Han Duck-soo, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, and Cho Yang-ho, chairman of Hanjin Group.
Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, will reportedly attend on behalf of his father, Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee. The Hyundai Motor Group will be represented by either chairman Chung Mong-koo or his son Eui-sun.
An industry insider said LG Group chairman Koo Bon-moo and Hankook Tire Group chairman Cho Yang-rai will also attend.
Hankook Tire wants to build a tire plant worth US$800 million in the U.S. state of Tennessee.
The meeting will take about 30 minutes.
Prior to their meeting with Obama, the participants will meet U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman and other U.S. officials
Originally, the two countries had planned a dinner with 100 to 200 Korean and American business leaders, but Obama's itinerary did not permit it.
