The quest for Korea's first medal at the Sochi Olympics never got close during the men's 1,500 m short track event on Monday, as Lee Han-bin was the only Korean skater to qualify for the finals. And it looked like the pressure got the better of the 25-year-old.

Lee finished sixth while Russia's Viktor Ahn, who was born in Korea as Ahn Hyun-soo, seized bronze.

At the 2006 Turin Olympic Games, Ahn won gold medals in the 1,500 m and 1,000 m for Korea. He was also part of the winning men's 5,000 m relay team that year.

While his third-place finish in Sochi gave some joy to Korean fans, it was Charles Hamlin of Canada who finished first, followed by China's Tianyu Han.
