The upcoming Hyundai Genesis for the North American market will allow drivers to use wearable devices or smartwatches such as Google Glass to turn on the engine or send information on their destination.

Hyundai Motor America last week said Blue Link Glassware application will be showcased on the eve of the opening of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which kicks off this week.

Blue Link is a telematics service developed by Hyundai. By connecting it to wearable devices such as Google Glass, Hyundai hopes to open a new era of controlling a car from distance.

Mercedes-Benz and Nissan also unveiled their own application programs with Google Glass last year.

It allows users to start the engine or find the car from a distance.

Hyundai will not have an official booth at the CES but will hold a private media event at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.
