Customers' private information has been leaked from Korea's two major foreign banks, it emerged on Wednesday.

Police say two employees from Standard Chartered Bank and Citi Bank Korea took out roughly 130,000 customers' personal information.

The leaked data includes customers' personal information such as names and phone numbers, stoking fears that it could be used to commit financial fraud.

Officials from the Financial Supervisory Service said this points to weaknesses in the system as the data was leaked despite recent efforts to strengthen security.
