A German court has halted a patent infringement lawsuit by Samsung against Apple.
Mannheim Regional Court Judge Andreas Voss said Friday that a 3G mobile communications patent Samsung accuses Apple of infringing may be invalid.
Voss said he would halt the trial "pending a parallel nullity (invalidation) action by the Federal Patent Court," according to Germany's Post Patents website.
With the decision Samsung has seen all of its patent cases against Apple there either halted or lost.
Samsung had filed five patent-infringement charges against Apple with the Mannheim court in April and December 2011. In three of the cases, the court has ruled that Apple did not infringe any of Samsung's patents, and the remaining two have been halted.
Forbes magazine reported that "Apple is managing to land more than the occasional glancing blow upon Samsung." Apple won a case in a California district court last week, where Samsung must pay US$290 million in additional compensation for patent violation.
