Information on President Park Geun-hye that popped up on the Korean version of Google until recently depicted her as having come to office as the result of election fraud.
A Google search for Park led until Thursday to one of the potted biographies that appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen, which contained the allegation. The potted bios come from Wikipedia, but the Korean Wikipedia page about Park makes no mention of electoral fraud.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asked Google to rectify the problem, and the portal soon blocked access to the information. Google said the problem came from a delay in reflecting the latest edits on Wikipedia.
Wikipedia is edited by users, and sometimes a mischievous soul enters information that is not strictly verifiable.
