Park to Visit U.K. in November

      August 01, 2013 11:30

President Park Geun-hye will visit the U.K. from Nov. 5 to 7 at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II marking the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.

The U.K. hosts only two official visits by heads of state every year, and only the queen can invite them once the government has chosen them for her. The last Korean leader to visit the U.K. was President Roh Moo-hyun in 2004.

Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Kim Haeng said the two countries were "closely negotiating" the itinerary. Park is likely to meet the queen and Prime Minister David Cameron and attend a dinner hosted by the mayor of London.
