North Koreans have recently been spotted wearing a new badge with a portrait of leader Kim Jong-un, a source in Beijing said on Monday.
The badges have apparently been distributed only to the elite in Pyongyang and its vicinity.
The source said that people often wear the badge showing the young leader along with another one bearing the likeness of former leaders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il together. The regime recently combined the separate badges for the two dead leaders into a single one.
The new badge is part of attempts to create a personality cult surrounding Kim Jong-un since last year which also involved publishing stamps with his portrait in August.
And the North Korean Embassy in Beijing recently replaced the triple portraits of all dictators with a single one of Kim Jong-un at the front gate.
