President Park Geun-hye will pay a state visit to the U.K. this fall at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II, Seoul and London announced on Monday.
The two countries mark 130 years of diplomatic relations this year. Park will discuss ways of developing bilateral relations and seeking cooperation in policies related to North Korea, as well as other common global agendas, with British leaders, Cheong Wa Dae spokeswoman Kim Haeng said.
During her visit, Park also plans to attend a welcoming ceremony at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen and a dinner at Guildhall hosted by London Mayor Boris Johnson.
Former President Kim Dae-jung paid an official visit in 2001, while his successor Roh Moo-hyun followed suit in 2004. Queen Elizabeth II visited Korea in 1999 when Kim was in office.
