President Park Geun-hye is enjoying a solid 65 percent approval as she approaches her first 100 days in office, a Media Research poll for the Chosun Ilbo finds. Only 24.3 percent disapprove of the way she is running the country, and 10.7 percent have no opinion.
The figures are a huge improvement from the 53.7 percent support she garnered in a poll on March 6, shortly after her inauguration.
The latest survey also shows that 81.7 percent of people who voted for Park last December still back her, and 38.5 percent who cast their ballots for rival Moon Jae-in have come around to Park.
Asked to compare Park's performance with their expectations prior to her election, 23.2 percent said she is doing better than expected, 41.7 percent as expected and 31.2 percent worse.
But confidence that she can improve people's lives remains low. Some 42.7 percent said they expect their living conditions to remain unchanged, while 40.2 percent expect them to improve and 13.9 percent expect them to get worse.
The poll was conducted by phone among 1,000 adults across the country on Saturday.
