The Korean-born French government minister Fleur Pellerin traveled to Gimpo Airport on the metro instead of an official limousine. She was here to attend the Asian Leadership Conference hosted by the Chosun Ilbo.

Pellerin, a deputy minister for small and medium-size businesses and digital economy in the government of President François Hollande, was given a tour of the control center at Gaehwa Station on Line 9 at 11:20 a.m. and got aboard a subway train with a transport card.

She had a chance to use Wi-Fi on the subway train during her journey to the airport, where she boarded a plane to Tokyo. Pellerin said she was surprised at the fast speed of the 4G and Wi-Fi network.

Pellerin said she wanted to experience a metro system operated with French technology and was happy to see how many people in Seoul are using it.

French firm Veolia Transport RATP Korea holds 80 percent of shares in Seoul Metro Line 9.
