A new survey shows that the majority of local consumers think free trade agreements will help boost the economy.
In a recent poll by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, over 70 percent of respondents said that open trading systems will improve the nation’s economic health by fueling fair competition. Only 11 percent of the 500 people surveyed nationwide said FTAs will not help the economy.
On a related note, Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik emphasized at a cabinet meeting Tuesday that now is the time for Korea to take full advantage of such trade deals to strengthen the competitiveness of local industries and businesses.
