Blackout Victims to Be Compensated

      September 19, 2011 12:18

The government decided Sunday to compensate businesses and individuals who suffered damage in the recent nationwide freak blackouts. Claims for compensation can be submitted to 189 KEPCO branches, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, the Small and Medium Business Corporation, and the Small Enterprise Development Agency.

According to the terms of compensation, KEPCO must reimburse up to three times the cost of electricity for the duration of a blackout that lasts longer than five minutes. However, new guidelines will be applied to this particular case, which has been blamed on incompetence at KEPCO.
