Korea will experience a late seasonal heat wave in early September, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast on Tuesday.
"Until September, the weather will be hotter and wetter than in previous years, and the typical conditions we associate with the fall will not arrive until October," it reported. This means it will be sticky and humid in the early weeks of next month, just like high summer.
"Hot and moist atmospheric conditions from the North Pacific will linger around the Korean Peninsula in early September," the KMA said. "The hot, tropical or semitropical air at the edge of this air mass will reach Korea, driving the mercury up to around 30 degrees Celsius."
