TV maker GPNC has launched Korea's first smart TV, the SmartRoi, it said Tuesday.

Running Google's Android operating system, the 42-inch high-definition LED TV allows viewers to access the Internet with a keyboard-type remote controller and use Android applications.

Currently the SmartRoi can be purchased only from online stores, although the company hopes to make it available from offline retailers as well.

GPNC plans to introduce the device in 10 countries including Australia, Austria, Spain, Sweden and the UAE, as well as display it at the IFA, the world's largest consumer electronics fair, in Berlin in September.
