Samsung Electronics has become the world's no. 1 electronics company. The Korean firm announced on Friday that it recorded W39 trillion in revenue during the October to December period last year with profits of around US$3 billion (US$1=W1,157). This puts the electronics giant's annual revenue and profit in 2009 at $117 billion and $9 billion, respectively.

The corporation's 2009 revenue is even higher than Kuwait's GDP and also higher than that of Germany's Siemens and Hewlett Packard of the U.S. As Siemens and HP were the only two electronics companies that made more money than Samsung in 2008, according to U.S. business magazine Fortune, it can be seen that the Korean conglomerate has become the world's top electronics corporation.

This was made possible thanks to robust sales in the company's semiconductors, LCD panels, telecommunication devices and home appliances sectors, bringing in billions of dollars despite the economic downturn.
