The government plans to push for restructuring of 10 major industries for the first time since the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy has proposed a tentative plan to reorganize Korea's top 10 industrial sectors including automobiles, shipbuilding, steel and semiconductors. The government is looking to prevent the shock of the global economic crisis from overrunning Korea's economic landscape.
