New Trains to Service Subway Line 3 from June
All trains on Subway Line 3 in Seoul will be replaced by new models, Seoul Metro announced Tuesday. New trains equipped with the latest ventilation, air conditioning and heating, control and information systems will start operating from June, replacing 260 trains by the end of the year and another 70 by the first half of next year.

The trains currently in use were introduced in the 1980s. The new model was designed by European firm MDB Design Group, and made entirely using Korean technology by Hyundai Rotem. It has wider doors, a minimized noise level, and a 30-year lifespan, over five years longer than the previous model.
