Researchers claim that workers are most under pressure on Tuesday mornings. British newspaper The Telegraph on Tuesday cited a survey conducted on 3,000 office workers by health supplement manufacturer Bimuno in the U.K., saying 53 percent found their stress levels rise highest in the mid-morning on their second working day of the week, apparently peaking at 11:45 a.m.
Some 20 percent of the participants said they work overtime on Tuesday nights, and as many as 23 percent said they feel stressed everyday. Workers have until recently seen Monday's return to work after a long weekend break as the most stressful day.
The study revealed that most workers drift through Monday getting their brains in gear and checking e-mails that arrived over the weekend. However, the level of stress rises on Tuesday morning as they realize they have a busy week ahead. Graham Waters from Bimuno said, "Workers are most likely to work through their lunch break on Tuesday."
The survey found that the biggest reason for stress was heavy workloads (25 percent), followed by a boss (12 percent) and colleagues (nine percent). One in five said stress was simply part and parcel of their job.
