Korean figure skater Kim Yu-na met America's much-acclaimed skater Michelle Kwan for the first time at Staples Center in Los Angeles where the ISU World Figure Skating Championships are held. Since Kwan, who underwent surgeries and rehabilitation, has not participated in competitions since the 2005-2006 seasons, Kim has never competed against the American figure queen.
Kim said, "I have never seen Kwan as closely as this. I have respected her since I started my career. I have desired to see her in person."

Kwan observed Kim's moves throughout the practice session and applauded whenever Kim made successful jumps. Chinese-American Kwan, who is considered the best figure skater in the women's singles, won the World Championships title five times to become a "figure queen."
